In addition to reducing negative impacts on ecosystems and avoiding deforestation, CHEM actively promotes the positive value of ecosystems and biodiversity to achieve harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature.
Commitments and Actions
1. This commitment encompasses supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, SDG 13: Climate Action, SDG 14: Life Below Water, SDG 15: Life on Land, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
2. We continue to comply with the laws, regulations, and guidelines established by local governments, avoiding operations in or near areas of critical biodiversity importance at the global or national level. We are dedicated to achieving the goals of No Net Loss of biodiversity and No Net Deforestation, while steadily advancing toward our vision of a Net Positive Impact.
3. Should our own operations or those of our supply chain (or value chain) partners take place in or near areas of critical biodiversity importance, we will follow the mitigation hierarchy by taking measures to avoid, minimize, restore, and compensate for adverse effects to reduce ecological impacts.
4. We support initiatives related to biodiversity conservation, forest conservation, and afforestation carbon sinks. We actively promote these conservation concepts among employees, shareholders, customers, partners, suppliers, and other stakeholders, implementing our biodiversity conservation and No-Deforestation policies.
